Sanus VMPL50A-B1 Tilting Wall Mount
The best TV wall mount
The Sanus has an easy install and a good tilt range yet still holds the TV less than two inches from the wall.
The Sanus VMPL50A-B1 fits TVs ranging in size from 32 to 70 inches and holds a TV less than two inches from the wall. It can be tilted up or down to reduce screen glare and give a little extra working room behind the TV when plugging in cables. Installation is easy, and we like how the monitor brackets make an audible click when the TV is properly hung on the wall plate. The UL-approved mount also has adjustment screws in case it’s installed a little bit out of level. The knobs that control the tension of the tilt can be fine-tuned by hand, but if there’s not enough room, Sanus supplies a hex wrench for the job.
Peerless ST650P Universal Tilt Wall Mount
Very similar, but not as slim
The Peerless is similar to our main pick, but it holds the TV off the wall a little farther. Installation is a little fussier, too.
If the Sanus isn’t available, we also like the Peerless ST650P Universal Tilt Wall Mount. In most ways, it’s nearly identical to our main pick, but it holds the TV farther off the wall, and locking the TV into the wall bracket isn’t as easy.
The VLT6 is hinged so it can be pulled forward to make wiring the TV easier. It also turns to either side and can be used with metal studs.
For those with a larger budget who want the flexibility to tilt the TV from side to side, we also like the Sanus VLT6 Advanced Tilt Premium Wall Mount. Like the others, this mount can be tilted up and down and has the post-install level adjustment, but the TV can also be pulled straight off the wall about 5½ inches. This gives a lot of room for wiring and lets you angle the screen to the side a little. The VLT6 is the only mount we tested that can be attached to metal studs. These premium features come at a higher price. In addition, to make room for the extending hinges, the back of the TV sits 2¾ inches off the wall, which is about an inch farther than our main pick.
Monoprice 10483 EZ Series Tilt TV Wall Mount Bracket
A basic tilt mount
The inexpensive Monoprice mount holds a TV on the wall but doesn’t have much in the way of added features.
For an inexpensive wall mount that still has the tilt feature and UL approval, we like the Monoprice 10483 EZ Series Tilt TV Wall Mount Bracket. It doesn’t have the post-install level adjustment, and it can’t tilt up, but it holds a TV against the wall and doesn’t break the bank. This replaces our previous budget pick, the AmazonBasics PBH-994 Heavy Duty Tilting TV Wall Mount, which offers similar features at a slightly lower price but is not UL-approved.
